Carole Hillard

1936-2007

Carole Hillard was the first woman Lieutenant Governor of the state of South Dakota. She was a voice for women in this state and around the world. Carole supported the right to vote and helped to monitor elections in many countries. Her passion was to see more women engaged in the political system. She was instrumental in the foundation of the Rapid City woman's shelter and the Cornerstone Rescue Mission and was inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 2007.
