2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting most women in America the right to vote. To commemorate this milestone in women’s history, Governor Kristi Noem appointed a Women’s Vote Centennial Delegation to organize statewide celebrations, gather historical artifacts, develop educational materials about the suffrage movement and more.
Together with the South Dakota State Historical Society and the Historical Society Foundation, Her Vote. Her Voice. (HVHV) Centennial Delegation will lead initiatives and raise funds to ensure that the history of South Dakota’s women will be collected and preserved for future generations.

Our Mission
To provide education and stimulate dialogue that explores the decades-long fight for universal women’s suffrage.
To encourage eligible individuals to cast their ballot and make their voices heard.
To work with the Historical Society Foundation to financially support the ongoing mission of the State Historical Society to preserve, promote, nurture and sustain the historical and cultural heritage of South Dakota.

This diverse group of non-partisan professionals brings relevance to the historical topic while connecting people to the present issue: South Dakota women’s history will be lost if we don’t act now.
