Ginger Thomson

Ginger Thomson’s speaking career began at the age of three when her broadcaster father recorded her voice for a commercial for their radio station. That experience led to a lifelong career in communications with Ginger receiving her B.A. degree in Mass Communication from the University of South Dakota and her M.S. degree in Journalism from South Dakota State University. Since then, she has worked as a news anchor and reporter at KELO-TV and a producer for South Dakota Public Television. She started her own marketing and media production company, TV Productions, Inc., in Brookings where she is a writer, producer, and on-air talent.

Ginger has had an exciting life, from being selected Miss South Dakota USA to earning a three-year term as Brookings City Councilwoman. She has worked in the financial industry as a business development executive, in the nonprofit arena as a development officer, in the economic development sector, and as an adjunct professor at SDSU in mass communication. If that isn’t enough, she is also an inventor. With her husband Jay, Ginger invented the Doorhickey, an “extra handle” that suctions to a sliding glass door for hands-free opening and closing.
