Cathy Heinemann

Cathy Heinemann has always been a champion for youth, women, and girls in particular, which makes her especially worthy of being featured during Women’s History Month.

Cathy is helping to write the women’s history of tomorrow, through her leadership and advocacy for girls’ education and advancement today.  Her commitment is evident in her involvement with both Junior Achievement and Girl Scouts over the years and has volunteered as a classroom consultant for Junior Achievement for 33 years. She previously served on the boards for Girls Scouts Dakota Horizons and the March of Dimes and has mentored 5th grade girls in the Sioux Falls School District.

In addition to Junior Achievement, Cathy currently volunteers for the Sioux Empire United Way, and her church religious education program.  She also continues her work to advance the education and opportunities for women through her involvement in P.E.O, where she served on the state board of the South Dakota State Chapter and served as state president in 2020-2021.  Cathy is a lifetime member of the American Association of University Women and the Girl Scouts. She was also the recipient of the 1996 YWCA Leadership Luncheon Community Service Award.
