In The Moment ... March 2, 2020 Show 764 Hour 2
In this week's Images of the Past, we focus on Major John A. Pickler, his wife Alice, their lovely home in Faulkton, and pioneering suffrage work in South Dakota. J. Pickler was a territorial legislator who went on to represent the new state in the U.S. House. He introduced a suffrage amendment for the Dakota Territory, which passed both houses of the legislature only to be vetoed by the governor. That was 1885. Alice Pickler was a true leader in both Territorial and State efforts to recognize woman suffrage.
