Honoring: Zitkala Sa

Zitkala-Ša (Red Bird / Gertrude Simmons Bonnin) was a Yankton Dakota writer, editor, educator, translator, musician, and political activist. She continuously worked for improvements in education, health care, and legal recognition of Native Americans as well as the preservation of Native American culture.

I chose Zitkala Sa because she is Yankton Indian. She died on January 26, 1938, and she was 61 years old. I chose the roses for two reasons, for the design and she is graceful. I think she needs more people talking about her.
